Double Denim for a while has been a fashion ‘DON’T’. One piece of denim rocked, but two pieces were risky, and well.... anymore was just fashion suicide. Let’s just flash back to the 2001 American Music Awards with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake - now that was just to much of a good thing!
But I think if done right it’s a fashion ‘DO’! To avoid any Britney & Justin moments these are the ‘DENIM DO'S’ I follow:
Break up the Blue:
If you are wearing denim boots like I am below, team it up with a different colour or textured pant/skirt, then add a denim jacket to double it.
Double means two no more:
You can definitely have to much of a good thing, and when it comes to styling with denim leave it at two pieces ONLY!
Stick to pieces of similar washes:
Denim on denim devotees will tell you that you can double any denim, but for those new to the trend try and match your double denim. It doesn't have to be exactly the same but if they are of a similar wash it will elongate your frame and bring cohesion to your outfit.
Add a touch of colour to your denim on denim look, whether it be a pair of red pumps or a cool funky patterned skirt 9 times out of 10 it’s gonna work!
Don't be afraid to add some 'of the moment' modern accessories with this look so you’re not so 1990's. A pair of fierce heels and a designer tote can really take your denim look from casual to class.
